The VAW Cluster is one of nine faculty clusters at the University of Central Florida focused on conducting cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research to make positive impacts across the globe. We are currently a team of 11 faculty and two postdoctoral scholars. Postdoctoral scholars will be jointly mentored by the faculty lead(s) on their assigned projects. They will collaborate on research studies examining intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and other gender-based violence among community and student populations. The Opportunity

The VAW Cluster is looking for two full-time, benefits eligible, 12-month postdoctoral research scholars. Contract renewal is possible on an annual basis for up to 3 years, with the third year contingent on availability of funding. The post-docs' tasks could include liaising with community partners, developing data collection protocols, managing quantitative and qualitative data collection, leading and assisting in data analysis, co-author scholarly and translational publication materials, contributing to future grant applications, attending Cluster meetings as required, supporting administrative and regulatory activities, and supervising student researchers.

The selected candidates should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • Project management and oversight of study procedures, protocols, and tasks (e.g., recruitment and retention).

  • Liaise with community partners locally and nationally.

  • Develop data collection protocols.

  • Collect qualitative, quantitative, and longitudinal data.

  • Assist in quantitative and qualitative data analysis.

  • Assist in the development of grant applications.

  • Co-author scholarly and translational publication materials.

  • Attend required Cluster meetings and activities.

  • Supervise student researchers/volunteers.

  • Other research tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. or expected Ph.D. in a theoretically relevant field of study (e.g., social work, criminal justice, sociology, psychology, women's studies, nursing, public health) from an accredited institution by the start of the appointment.

  • Experience conducting research related to gender-based violence.

  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant research and analytic methods.

  • Intermediate or advanced experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Stata, SAS, MPlus, R) and multivariate statistics, and/or

  • Intermediate or advanced experience with qualitative data analysis (e.g., content analysis, thematic analysis, narrative analysis, discourse analysis).

  • Experience authoring or co-authoring a scholarly, peer-reviewed publication, including writing strong literature reviews.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing research projects.

  • Experience leading or co-leading scholarly, peer-reviewed publications.

  • Experience and ability to work with large datasets.

  • Experience and ability to work collaboratively.

  • Data collection experience with one or more of the following: survivors of violence, criminal justice system stakeholders, community-based services, undergraduate students, and administrative data.

  • Experience with longitudinal data collection and/or multi-site research.
