The New Jersey Judiciary seeks a well-organized financial/accounting professional with excellent communication and analytical skills to join the Position Control Unit in the Financial Services Division. Under the direction of the Administrative Supervisor of the Position Control Unit, this candidate will take the lead with weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and continuous monitoring of all Judiciary positions and salary program needs.

 

This selected individual will be responsible for financial monitoring and reporting on Recall Judge activity regarding annual earnings statutes and proactively communicating with the Recall Judge pool to maintain compliance. This individual will prepare the required staffing documentation in a timely matter for the Hiring Review Board. The selected candidate will analyze salary information and ensure compliance with bargaining unit agreements, regulations, and/or agency rules. This individual will conduct quarterly audits of various HR Systems to ensure accuracy among the systems and oversee the Annual Staffing Models for Court Divisions. This position will also act as a backup for the Budget Group on assignments as needed in support of the Central Office and vicinages.

 

Remote Work: The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.

 

Example of Duties:

 

* Prepare and analyze salary projections and various staffing related reports, supply forecasting information for collective bargaining unit negotiations.

* Provide pertinent salary details to Judiciary representatives in preparation for the annual Legislative Budget Hearings.

* Assist Administrative Supervisor in preparing documents and interpreting financial information for the Administrative Director, Judges, committees, and other Court Executives.

* Make recommendations based on analysis and status of staffing targets and available resources.

* Develop internal control systems to ensure data integrity for report creation and analysis.

* Create new accounting reports and related procedures in response to new business needs.

* Assist with the preparation of formal policies and procedures.

* Provide coverage for the Position Control Unit Administrative Supervisor in times of their absence.

* Review various Central Office personnel maintenance forms and supplemental payments for accuracy of account information and/or calculations, prior to submitting for financial approval.

* The selected individual will have a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products and Business Objects.

 

Salary range is $73,838.98 – $109,322.18. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range.

 

 

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 21 credits hours in accounting, business administration, economics, public administration and/or finance. Twelve of these credit hours must be in accounting and five (5) years of professional accounting, finance, auditing and/or budgeting experience.

 

Substitution: Applicants who do not possess the required education, but do possess the 21 accounting, business administration, economics, public administration, and/or finance credit hours, including 12 accounting credit hours, may substitute additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. A Master's degree in business or public administration, economics, accounting or finance may be substituted for one year of general experience - OR - a CPA designation may be substituted for one year of general experience as indicated above.

Driver's License:  Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

 

Residency Law: In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person may request an exemption from that requirement from the Employee Residency Review Committee in the Department of Labor & Workforce Development on the basis of either hardship or employer critical need.

 

Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required.  Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
