Description

The GSK Production System (GPS) is our continuous improvement methodology and is the way we improve. The GPS includes several basic standards used to detect waste and variation, resolve, and standardize. It also focuses on creating a strong culture of continuous improvement.

The Site Operational Excellence Manager (GPS Lead) is part of the GPS team across GSC.

The mission of the Site Operational Excellence Manager (GPS Lead) is the following:
  • (S)He is a member of the Site/Function Leadership Team, is co responsible for the Site/Function results. Reporting to the Site/Function Head
  • (S)he leads the strategy deployment process across the Site/Function following the best method and ensuring engagement and alignment on all levels
  • (S)He supports the business strategy and Site/Function objectives to deliver highest standards for our patients by improving process efficiency within the Site/Function by embedding the GSK Production System (GPS)
  • (S)He leads and coordinates strategic performance management and organizes appropriate governance of the GPS Improvement plan to monitor delivery and corresponding impact (ROI) of transversal and local plans
  • (S)He leads the GPS culture acceleration, creating new best-known methods for GPS and coaching the Site/Function Head and Leadership Team to realize culture change and strategic objectives via GPS
  • (S)He uses digital levers to generate practical, creative and sustainable alternatives to support process simplification, value creation and CI
  • (S)He is accountable for increasing GPS capabilities in the Site/Function
  • Build the GPS Capability and mindset for the Site/Function leadership team and direct reports


This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Drive GPS deployment to implement and maintain GPS maturity in Site/Function
  • Lead GPS strategy definition in Site/Function masterplan / Improvement plan (Hoshin matrix, CIF, VCP, ...)
  • Drive Performance Management with process KPIs in place and in use
  • Leads Problem solving, Accelerators, Kaizen events, GPS Deployments
  • Define, build, and maintain the required GPS Capabilities in the Site/Function
  • Promotion of the GPS - communications, benchmarking, knowledge share, lesson learned and propagation of best practice.
  • Supporting and influencing (senior) managers and business teams across organization to achieve Site/Function Improvement plan.
  • Develop the capability of the GPS community by actively participating and facilitating on GPS governances across GSC including Webinars and forums.
  • Ensure identification, consolidation, and calculation of both financial and non-financial benefits of CI initiatives (Problem solving, Projects, JDI, Kaizen, Accelerators, ...) in VCP system.
  • Ensure appropriate coaching and mentoring of line managers and trained experts during the execution of their projects.

  • Acts as role model by using and promoting GPS to implement the Continuous Improvement Culture
  • Actively identify and create the conditions to reach a culture of participation and involvement in which continuous improvement becomes self-evident.
  • Be an advocate of Safety Leadership Experience in the Site/Function through CI initiatives.
  • Applies change management principles to plan and support GPS deployment (including stakeholder mapping/management)
  • Acts as a trainer and coach and support employees at various levels in the organization in applying GPS.
  • Ability to inspire, enthuse, encourage and empower others - often without direct line responsibility
  • People focused leadership with great listening skills
  • Strong and flexible ability to influence the SLT.
  • Adaptable and resilient


Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Scientific Discipline
  • Hands on experience in manufacturing operations
  • Experience in a GPS or Continuous Improvement role
  • Change Management experience
  • Experience in leading CI activity and hands-on project implementations at site of functional level
  • Kaizen experience
  • Experience in either a Senior Functional Role or as part of a Site Leadership Team


Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering or Scientific Discipline
  • Experience in the Pharmaceutical manufacturing industry
  • Certification or formal training in a continuous improvement methodology (such as a Six Sigma Black Belt)
  • Strong Business understanding & acumen with a site wide/network focus
  • Demonstrated Problem solving
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills
