Job Description

The Clinical Team Lead provides administrative/clinical assistance to physicians/mid-level practitioners/clinical team members/patients while adhering to a prescribed treatment plan in accordance with established policies and procedures.

The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for provider; maintains supplies, rooms, and medications; performs and tracks tests and results; assists providers and nurses; performs chart documentation, review, and maintenance; performs front office duties when required and completes miscellaneous duties as assigned. Maintains patient flow in the clinical areas.
  • Administers treatments as ordered by the providers. Responds to patient refill requests and phone calls in a timely manner. Responsible for reporting all results to the patient and contact within timely guidelines.
  • Appropriately operates clinical equipment such as BP machine, EKG machines, audiometer, breathing machine, urine analyzer, glucometer and office equipment such as computers, phones, fax and copy machines.
  • Assist patients and their families, physicians, and staff in all medical areas. Examples: office visits, scheduling of tests and labs, meds, exams, specified treatments, and follow-up.
  • Performs Drug Screens and office based medical testing to include urinalysis, strep screens, flu screens, etc., as ordered by the providers. Correctly completes appropriate forms, requests and requisitions according to standard protocol and as per corporate client profiles.
  • Cleans, packages, and sterilizes instruments and procedure supplies per OSHA standards. Cleans exam rooms and equipment as per OSHA standards.
  • Appropriately labels and provides insurance info for any referral to lab, x-ray, or specialist. Refers according to insurance guidelines and protocol, records and reviews all services and supplies rendered on the superbill for accuracy and proper code selection. Completes work efficiently and accurately at the pace indicated by the flow of customers. During decreases in customers, utilizes time productively for the benefit of the clinics.
  • Obtains appropriate prior authorization for medications and testing as deemed necessary by private insurance companies.
  • Promptly and accurately enters orders for outpatient diagnostics in EMR after prior authorization has been obtained.
  • As the clinical team leader responsibilities included but not limited to: Identifies emergency situations and provides care within legal scope of practice; provides direct patient care; Collaborates with Practice Manager to provide leadership to team members; investigates and resolve complaints and acts as a liaison between patient, team members, and Manager; Participates in unit performance improvement activities; Facilitates the whole health care rendering process for the client's employees, from entry to return to duty; Relay all information to the appropriate parties in a timely and proper manner; Assist in coding invoices and accounts payable duties; Works closely with operations manager on annual clinical budget needs for the primary care department; Rounds in departments daily; Appropriately and courteously screens solicitors for relevance to organization needs.
  • Responsible for the quality assurance program and actively participates in the hospital safety and infection control committees and must interface with the personnel responsible for those committees.
  • Responsible for monitoring patient immunizations as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the infection control committee.


Qualifications

Minimum Education
  • Technical Diploma/Certificate Medical Assisting, Military trained corpsmen Required

Minimum Work Experience
  • 2 years clinical medical assistant experience Required

Licenses and Certifications
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
  • Medical Assistant (NCMA_NCCT) Upon Hire Required or
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA_AAMA) Upon Hire Required or
  • Clinical Medical Assistant (CLMA_NHA) Upon Hire Required or
  • Medical Assistant (CMAS_NAHP) Upon Hire Required or
  • Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT_AMT) Upon Hire Required and
  • Medical Assistant Membership (AMT) Upon Hire Required

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, medical law, medical ethics, human relations and patient education.
  • Skills and ability in administrative and clinical medical assisting.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively through written and/or verbal communication.
  • Basic Computer skills.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform EKGs and obtain accurate blood pressure readings.
