Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead position in the overall billing/accounts receivable management
  • Ensures assigned billing and collections are done in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and manage the receivables including the receipt of payments, posting of such payments, posting of adjustments;
  • Work collaboratively with all third party payors.
  • Checks financial plans on accounts and corrects prior to billing as appropriate.
  • Initiate and respond to telephone inquiries from clients, patients, and others.
  • The investigation, analysis, and follow-up for collection
  • Prepare and maintain financial and statistical reports relating to accounts receivable as needed.
  • Audit patient accounts and assures they are true balances and do not have active insurance.
  • Respond to legal proceedings such as filing claims thru bankruptcy
  • Review Collection Agency Prebilling report
  • Adjust collection balances off and prepare packets for the collection agency
  • Respond and Notifies Collection Agency of Patient claim disputes in a timely manner
  • Transfers delinquent accounts to Collection Agency.
  • Assure that the agency is in compliance with any regulatory changes relating to patient accounting and any third party billing protocols;
  • Retrieves and provides monthly reports in excel format including but not limited to; patient receipts, the amount charged by collection agency month to month ratio, totals YTD to Practice Manager
  • Communicate with Billing Team about any Patient AR discrepancies
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality relating to patient information, general financial information.
  • Uses company resources wisely.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Flexibility to adhere to additional duties as needed for department growth.
  • Demonstrate willingness and ability to acquire knowledge and new skills necessary to optimize individual and organizational performance.
  • Assist in training and motivating new staff to ensure maximum utilization of individual and group capabilities.
  • Assist in developing educational materials as needs are identified or requested.
  • Knowledge and experience with healthcare revenue cycle operations.
  • Strives to keep patient information and documents secure and confidential in accordance with HIPPA and hospital guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Highschool Diploma or GED Required. Associates Degree preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in healthcare collections and/or healthcare-related fields.
  • Previous experience in Physician Office healthcare Collections preferred, willing to consider Collection Agency exp.
  • Previous experience MicroMD preferred
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, and HCPCS codes
  • Sharp intelligence of government payers and other commercial/managed care carrier rules and processes in a professional billing environment
  • Attention to detail with the ability to identify/resolve problems and document the outcome
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task and recognize trends to effectively work A/R
  • Solid skill with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel
  • Initiative to learn new tasks and the ability to apply acquired knowledge to future duties

Flexibility, adaptability, and accountability are necessary for optimum client results

Required education:

**Solid excel knowledge with reporting experience preferred (e.g pivots, manipulating data, etc).

**Upload batches & work invalids & rejections experience is preferred**

**Physician Office healthcare Collections: 2 years** Experience in pediatrics is preferred.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift thirty (30) pounds
