Job Summary

The Senior Accountant will report to the Director of Accounting and responsibilities will include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end closing procedures. The Senior Accountant will combine analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and produce forecasts. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Director of Accounting, other leaders in the organization, and the Sonepar Shared Services accounting team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure that company financial records are maintained in compliance with company policies and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Compile and analyze financial information required to prepare entries to general ledger accounts and document business transactions.
  • Assist in the month end closing and financial reporting process including account analysis and reconciliation.
  • Partner with Sonepar USA Shared Services in completing month-end reporting requirements.
  • Maintain timely and accurate financial reporting, meet all reporting deadlines, and assist in preparation for regular leadership reviews.
  • Analyze the company's financial data and provide trend analyses.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support where necessary.
  • Assist with the preparation, review, and monitoring of budgets to achieve business goals and performance.
  • Detect, investigate, and correct errors associated with financial reports and operational transactions.
  • Coordinate work relating to audits, and work with business leaders to implement agreed upon corrective recommendations resulting from any audit findings.
  • Contribute to special projects, as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Four-year finance or accounting degree, CPA a plus
  • 5+ years of accounting and analysis related experience
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint - Power BI experience a plus
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Flexible in assuming a variety of accounting functions, along with ability to develop, analyze, and present financial data effectively.
