What Makes an Applications Examiner successful?

Are you an inquisitive, analytical person who enjoys working in teams and leading others? As part of our Applications Department, you'll find a collaborative culture that encourages staff to exercise initiative and ownership of their work. More specifically, you'll be:

  • Partnering with stakeholders across the banking system in analyzing bank merger and acquisition transactions and evaluating bank ownership structures to determine regulatory filing requirements.

  • Assessing proposals by district banking organizations to engage in nonbanking activities, including those involving fintech companies and other non-traditional banking services/products, which may contain unique or novel fact patterns and entail collaboration with staff from the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

  • Using an inquisitive and analytical mindset to independently evaluate financial, managerial, and competitive/anti-trust factors, and collaborate with subject matter experts across the Supervision and Legal Divisions to incorporate safety and soundness, consumer compliance/Community Reinvestment Act, and legal/policy factors into comprehensive analyses.

  • Leveraging strong communication skills to serve as a liaison with external constituents, including financial institutions, consultants, and law firms, on matters related to pending or ongoing applications, and produce clear and concise written documents.

  • Relying on strong interpersonal skills to foster collaborative relationships with representatives from federal and state regulatory agencies and the Board of Governors to build consensus and ensure a consistent approach in the application of supervisory, legal, and/or other interpretative matters.

  • Investing in the development of your peers by proactively sharing knowledge and regularly providing peer level feedback in support of the KC Fed's focus on employee growth.
