About The Position
The Manager, Financial Reporting, along with another manager, manages a team that is responsible for preparing and reviewing SEC filings for Ameren Corporation and its two registrant subsidiaries, as well as filings with other regulatory bodies, internal reporting and presentations. In addition to providing oversight to the Financial Reporting team, the Manager position plays a key role in technical accounting research, leading cross-functional projects, and interfacing with senior leadership. This position helps lead a collaborative, team-based approach to meeting all of the Company's reporting requirements. This position works under the direction of the Director, Financial Reporting and has frequent interaction with the Controller, Chief Accounting Officer, and other Corporate and subsidiary leadership throughout the Company.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing department staff, including oversight of development, performance management, etc.
  • Managing the timely and accurate preparation of external regulatory filings with the SEC (including XBRL tagging), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and State Public Service Commissions
  • Collaborating with Investor Relations, Legal, and Corporate Communications to ensure consistent external messaging.
  • Supporting management's decision-making by communication of Ameren's financial performance through timely and accurate production of internal financial reports and executive-level and board of directors' presentations
  • Ensuring accounting decisions align with relevant guidance and support Ameren's strategies by working closely with the Accounting Research and Policy team to proactively research, report, and propose Company policy on financial and reporting matters, including monitoring the activities of financial and regulatory reporting and accounting standard setting agencies.
  • Participating in industry task forces to influence, interpret, and implement accounting standards.
  • Identifying opportunities and implementing initiatives to enhance financial processes, procedures, and controls.
  • Performing other ad hoc financial projects, as necessary


Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required, preferably in Accounting. CPA also required. Advanced Degree preferred. Seven or more years of accounting or other professional level relevant experience required. Two or more years supervisory or leadership experience also required. Reporting experience (e.g., SEC or FERC) preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong technical accounting research and analytical skills
  • The ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent communication, including presentation, written, and verbal, and organizational skills.
  • The ability to make sound decisions with ambiguous information.
  • The ability to drive organizational change and be a thought leader, within both the Financial Reporting team and the Controller's department.
