Audit Manager, Third Party Management and Staff Operations Audit

The Internal Audit function within Capital One is a dedicated group of audit professionals focused on delivering top quality assurance services to the organization's Audit Committee. The Audit department is considered one of the leading internal audit functions within the financial services industry and is highly regarded within Capital One. Audit professionals are experienced, well-trained and credentialed, and operate within a highly collaborative team environment to deliver value added opinions and recommendations.

The Audit Manager will primarily lead and execute third party management audit engagements, but may also perform operational, financial and compliance audit projects across the bank's various lines of business functions (retail, commercial, credit card, human resources, legal and financial services/auto finance). The Audit Manager will be responsible for maintaining all organizational and professional ethical standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead audits or projects, with a primary focus on third party management engagements.
  • Develop engagement planning documentation for assigned areas to communicate rationale for scoping decisions and develop audit programs to ensure adequate coverage of risks.
  • Design and execute appropriate audit procedures to verify the effectiveness of internal controls. Document business processes and procedures, review and analyze evidence, and identify potential issues.
  • Prepare clear, organized and complete documentation to support work performed, including draft findings.
  • Establish and maintain good client and team relations during engagements. Effectively communicate audit process, scope, protocol, issues, risks and recommendations during kick-off, periodic status updates and exit meetings.
  • Self-prioritize and effectively plan your own work activities managing multiple priorities and tasks across the team to deliver quality results. Proactively take on additional work to support the team when possible.
  • Provide coaching, on-the-job training and feedback to audit staff, including junior associates and recent hires.
  • Participate in continuous monitoring activities and update risk assessments, audit universe, and audit plan, as needed.
  • Help to implement and execute the team's strategic imperatives and priorities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of audit experience in the financial industry, third party management, compliance, accounting, financial analysis, or a combination.
  • At least 2 years of experience in leading audit engagements or in project management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Master's Degree in Finance, Master's Degree in Economics, or Master of Business Administration
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Risk Compliance Manager (CRCM), or Certified Third Party Risk Professional (CTPRP), or Certified Third Party Risk Assessor (CTPRA)
  • 6+ years of experience in banking or the financial services industry
  • 5+ years of experience in third party risk management across the three lines of defense, with an understanding the vendor lifecycle (onboarding, monitoring, termination, etc.) and applicable regulatory guidance
  • 2+ years of experience with data analytics tools in support of internal audit

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $147,800 - $168,700 for Audit Manager

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
