The Opportunity:

Join our dynamic Utilities and Engineering team as a Utility Billing Specialist, performing skilled specialized duties in assisting the Manager of Utilities Smart Infrastructure in meeting unit and division goals. You'll manage utility billing collection, processing, generation, and quality assurance for revenue recovery, audit, analysis, and support for complex accounts across multiple campuses. Your role is vital in providing all university-related utility billing data to internal and external stakeholders for utility operations, production, project support, engineering, state reporting, sustainability, and consistent reliable utility data overall.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage weekly utility billing and export critical, time-sensitive billing files to the Workday system for invoicing customers.

  • Handle all utility provider billing data received from automatic imports and manual entry of complex summary bills. Coordinate all university-related utility provider accounts and account changes, additions, or cancellations.

  • Maintain complex system setup of utility production plant meters to ensure expected results for each commodity. Create and update all accounts, including complex chargeback accounts, virtual accounts, and split allocation accounts.

  • Troubleshoot billing failures, review anomalies found during utility bill processing, and perform complex billing estimates and credits based on historical usage patterns.

  • Schedule and manage the upload/download of all monthly meter readings and generate work orders for any failed meters or maintenance-related issues found during the billing process.

  • Perform quality assurance and analysis of read data for daily operations, analyzing and evaluating outlier bills, and creating billing adjustments as needed.

  • Execute and maintain existing bill capture workflow, coordinate with vendors for setup of bill capture automation, and obtain missing bills not posted to online service accounts.

  • Conduct research and analysis of historical data collected for various stakeholders and produce utility production reports, KPI/KVI report updates, and analytic reports for utilities operation and compliance requirements.

  • Manage share drive file storage for all UES Metering needs, process weekly charges to field work orders, and create and submit all UES Metering unit-level requisitions, purchase orders, and spend authorizations as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • General understanding of Energy/Units and General Utilities knowledge.

  • Experience in Workday use/functionality.

  • Proficiency with MS Office, with medium-to-advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables and charts, conditional functions/statements).

  • Competency with the use of 10-key.

  • Familiarity and understanding of general maintenance and utility-related terms and nomenclature.
