Description
Locally funded government agency seeks to fill the position of entry-level programmer. This position is
responsible for assisting in the development and support of various criminal justice applications that are
used by local law enforcement, jails and courts. Duties include but not limited to; collaborating with
senior developers and team members to assist in the development of new coding requests for existing
applications, analyze and debug trouble reports of existing applications, in-depth testing and
documentation of all coding implementations prior to production deployment, provide regular updates

Agency
The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council or CJCC is a government funded agency established as an entity under ORC
167.01-08 and 181.54 (subsequently amended to 5502.64) to provide planning, analysis, training, information
management and technical assistance in Toledo, OH, Lucas County. The Northwest Ohio Regional Information System or
NORIS is a division within the CJCC that provides information management and technology to said entities.
Position Description
NORIS is searching for an entry level programmer to assist in the development and maintenance of the various
applications that the criminal justice agencies in Northwest Ohio rely on to complete their jobs 24x7. The goal of NORIS
is to ensure that our criminal justice applications are streamlined and efficient for our contract agencies staff allowing
them to focus on their essential criminal justice tasks.
Developer Entry Level Responsibilities and Expectations
Analyze NORIS applications and specifications to gain an understanding of the applications functionality and
coding requirements.
Collaborate with Senior Developers and team members to assist in development of new coding requests and
maintenance of existing applications.
Analyze and debug end-user trouble reports resulting in a solution and coding implementation along with
documentation detailing resolution.
Perform in-depth testing and documentation of all coding implementations prior to production deployment.
Provide regular updates to project manager on progress and time estimate completions of assigned projects.
Advance professional development through training and educational opportunities; professional publications
and an overall inquisitiveness to expand your knowledge base.
Qualifications and Skills
Associates Degree or higher in Computer Programming or Computer Science Engineering
In-depth understanding of software/programming fundamentals
Basic understanding of databases and operating systems
Ability and willingness to learn new and different software platforms and/or technologies quickly
High attention to detail
Persistent and creative problem solver
Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate in business terms with stakeholders.
