About the Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead to join our 440 Manufacturing and Support line of business based at SA-Edinburgh Parks, reporting to the M&S Program Engineering Manager. We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working an optional 9-day fortnight.
You will be responsible for supporting mechanical production activities and processes within the Manufacturing business unit, with a focus on our soft metals machining workshop, ensuring engineering governance, managing operations, providing technical advice, resolving safety issues, driving continuous improvement, supporting bid assessments, offering design for manufacture guidance, and developing engineering management plans while fostering a community of Manufacturing Engineering SME's and providing leadership and support for production and new product introduction initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for both internal and external customers for products falling within the scope of authority.
Provision of Engineering oversight for mechanical production activities and processes within the Manufacturing business unit focusing primarily on manufacturing activities and products produced by the Soft Metals machining workshop.
Provide and ensure Engineering governance is applied across Soft Metals workshop machining and all related activities within the Manufacturing business unit.
Manage the daily operations and priorities of the Soft Metals Manufacturing Engineering team within the Manufacturing Business Unit.
Lead investigation and resolution of any Product Safety or Environmental Safety issues in relation to products and processes within the scope of authority.
Lead and/or support bid feasibility assessments and the development of cost estimates.
Lead engineering planning resources in the provision of support for all projects undertaken by M&S.
Maintain visibility of emerging Manufacturing technologies and related opportunities in support of driving Continuous Improvement of manufacturing processes.

About the OPPORTUNITIES

Key RESPONSIBILITIES

Armament AMEs: Maintain the emergency escape system, egress systems and aircraft weapon systems, from the computers on board, to the stores and load the aircraft carries.
Ensure maintenance and technical documentation or data used during maintenance is authorised for use and is compliant.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer-HVAC to join our Hunter Class line of business based at Osborne, SA, reporting to the Lead Mechanical Engineer-HVAC. Key Responsibilities Include:
Work with a team of HVAC design specialists in the design and integration of HVAC systems for the Hunter Class Frigate.
Undertake technical review of mechanical design documentation.
Carry out relatively complex technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability.
Participate fully in developing, maintaining, and modifying engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational need.
Prepare specifications, develop designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards, and carry out design appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained.
Act as a point of contact with customers, design partner, and/or other suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters, to resolve relatively complex problems and issues and to maintain awareness in both parties of priorities and objectives.

Have a Mechanical, Naval Architecture, Aerospace, or other similar degree qualified and satisfying the requirements for membership of the Institute of Engineers Australia. Displays flexibility in response to radical changes. Be comfortable working in a complex environment. Be flexible to support regular meetings into the evening with colleagues located in the UK and Europe. Have familiarity with system integration, systems engineering. HVAC system design experience or familiarity desirable. Have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing to management and peers. Have intermediate or higher capability with Microsoft Office software and a capability to learn other software and systems quickly.
