Kootenai Electric Cooperative is located in scenic North Idaho, the heart of abundant recreational opportunities. Settled in a beautiful lakefront mountain setting, it is a favorite destination for tourists. Just outside our back door are national forests, lakes, rivers, and trails offering plenty of opportunities for hiking, biking, boating/water sports, fishing, hunting, golfing, snow sports, and much more. The four distinct seasons offer recreational opportunities year-round. The Coeur d’Alene/Hayden metropolitan area also offers a variety of entertainment and shopping venues and is a short 45-minute drive to Spokane, Washington and access to domestic and international air travel. The Engineering Student Intern provides assistance to the Engineering department as needed. The internship is designed to give the currently enrolled college student workplace experience in the engineering field.

Job Responsibilities May Include the Following: • Assist with distribution equipment inventory data management for reclosers, regulators, switchgear, substation transformers, substation breakers, and AMI equipment. • Perform field inspections of various distribution power system devices for GIS verification and engineering model updates. • Review and update of meter inventory database. • Assist with document and drawing management. • Assist with power system analysis or other engineering calculations. • Other duties as assigned. Skills that student may apply and/or gain experience with: • Utility equipment and power system. • Utility GIS systems and data management software. • Organizational skills.

Job Requirements: • Education/Experience: o High school graduate or equivalent. o College student currently enrolled in an accredited college. Engineering program preferred. Junior standing or higher preferred. • Knowledge and Skills: o Effective verbal and written communication skills. o Effective interpersonal skills for working with all others. o Effective organizational and recordkeeping skills. o Attention to detail and accuracy. o Maintain positive work attitude. o Standard driver’s license. • Working Conditions o Normal office environment with low noise level. o May occasionally require being in an outside environment in all types of weather for extended periods of time. o Extensive keyboard entry.
