61% of Americans Plan to Work During Summer Vacation

More people plan on working this summer than in 2012.

TeamViewer®, one of the world’s most popular providers of remote control and online meetings software, announced the findings of its annual Work/Life Balance Index, fielded among over 2,000 American adults aged 18 and older, of which 1,094 are employed full time, part time and/or self-employed, conducted online by Harris Interactive in June.  The survey, which was aimed at determining American attitudes and behavior toward working during their summer vacations, found that 61% of employed vacationers plan to work during that time, expecting to perform tasks that include: (more…)

Job cuts fell to their lowest level since December, as U.S. employers announced plans to trim payrolls by 38,121 in April, according to the latest report on downsizing activity released Thursday by global outplacement consultancy Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc.

April job cuts were 23 percent lower than March, when announced layoffs totaled 49,255.  They were 6.0 percent lower than the 40,559 planned job cuts announced in April 2012.  April represents the lowest job-cut month since last December, when 32,556 were tracked by Challenger. (more…)

Most young adults see their cell phones as important to carry with them as their wallet and keys and the significance of their cell phones has only grown as most of those young adults have graduated from feature to smartphones like iPhones, Androids, and Blackberrys.
