Technical Degrees Lead List of Top-Paid Majors for Class of 2013 Grads

If you have graduated from college in 2013 with a technical degree, you may be earning one of the top salaries in the job market.

Technical majors, especially those in engineering, head the list of top-paid majors for the Class of 2013, according to a new report by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).

NACE’s September 2013 Salary Survey found that seven engineering majors are among the 10 highest-paid at the bachelor’s-degree level. (more…)

May brings more than Memorial Day and Mother’s Day. It is also when a whole slew of college graduates throw their caps in the air and then cross their fingers in the hopes they can find a job.

While competition for jobs may be stiff — the National Center for Education Statistics (nces.ed.gov, 2012) says more than 1.7 million bachelor’s degrees were conferred in 2010-2011 alone — there is one group of students that could have little problem landing a position right out of school. Those students are engineering majors, and within the field, mechanical engineering grads are some of the most coveted. (more…)

Technical majors head the list of highest-paid majors for the college Class of 2013, according to a new report by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).

In particular, NACE’s April 2013 Salary Survey—the first look at starting salaries for the Class of 2013—found that seven engineering majors are among the 10 top-paid for the college Class of 2013. (See Figure 1.)

“Engineering majors are consistently among the highest paid because the demand for them is so great,” says Marilyn Mackes, NACE executive director. (more…)

Technical majors—particularly those in engineering—dominated the list of top-paying majors in 2012, according to a new report by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).

12.2% Hiring Increase Projected for 2013 Grads

NACE logoThe job market for college graduates continues to improve according to preliminary results from the NACE’s Job Outlook 2013 survey.

The 12.2 percent projected increase in hiring of recent college graduates comes on top of the 9.5 increase seen in 2012. Part of the strength in the 2013 numbers is due to only eight percent of employers planning to hire fewer graduates, the lowest number seen since 2007.
