Part-Time Jobs—an Overview

A form of employment that usually carries less work hours per week as compared to full-time jobs is referred to as a part-time job. Employers who put in less than 30-35 hours per week are considered part-time employees. However, at times it depends on the employer to a certain extent. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), in the last 20 years the number of part-time workers has increased to one-fourth to at least half in most of the developed countries. Even in the developing economies, the concepts of part-time jobs have become extremely popular. As per Convention number 175 of the ILO, it is a must that part-time workers are treated as favourably as full-time workers. (more…)
