The Intersection Between Military and College Recruiting

On December 8, 2014, human resource leaders from federal, state, and local government agencies came together at the offices of the U.S. General Services Administration for a day of intense learning about how your agency can more efficiently and effectively recruit recent college grads and students.

The College Recruiting Bootcamp event was organized by College Recruiter, the leading niche job board used by recent college graduates searching for entry-level jobs and students hunting for internships.

In this video, Curt Coy, Deputy Under Secretary for Economic Opportunity, Department of Veterans Affairs, delivers his presentation on, “The Intersection Between Military and College Recruiting: Why Government Agencies Should Hire Military Veterans Who Are Attending or Recently Graduated From College or University.”

At niche job board College Recruiter, we’ve seen a significant increase in the number of military veterans being hired by federal, state, and local government agencies.

There are some legal reasons for that, including Executive Order 13518, but a significant number of agencies have learned that hiring veterans is right thing to do for the veterans, the right thing to do for our country, and also the right thing to do for their agencies as veterans — including those with a college education — make for some of the most productive employees.
