When you’re recruiting students for internships or recent grads for early career insurance jobs, which are your favorite schools to recruit from and why? Here is what five thought leaders have to say.

  • Prioritize Local School Recruitment
  • UNLV and Missouri State for Industry Prep
  • Choose Ontario Tech and Ryerson for Innovation
  • Florida Universities for Practical Experience
  • Wisconsin-Madison and Georgia for Top Talent

Prioritize Local School Recruitment

At my insurance agency, we believe in recruiting talent from our local schools. While there’s definitely top talent available outside our area, I feel a stronger connection to our community and its unique characteristics through the local schools we’re familiar with. Hiring from our area allows us to engage with students who understand the specific needs and obstacles of our community.

When we recruit from nearby schools, we build lasting bonds with students and offer internships that could potentially lead to full-time roles upon graduation. This approach not only fosters loyalty but also nurtures young professionals who could become indispensable team members.

Choosing local talent also promotes community engagement by creating career opportunities for skilled individuals in our region. Prioritizing local schools demonstrates our commitment to serving the community and developing talent perfectly suited to meet our clients’ needs.

UNLV and Missouri State for Industry Prep

Looking for talented interns and recent grads for your insurance team? Consider universities like the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and Missouri State. UNLV stands out for its Kerestesi Center for Insurance and Risk Management, which directly addresses industry needs.

Did you know that UNLV’s RMI program boasts a 90% placement rate for graduates within six months? Missouri State boasts a strong Risk Management and Insurance program. These universities provide specialized education and also actively partner with insurance companies, ensuring their graduates are well-prepared and attractive candidates for your open positions.

Choose Ontario Tech and Ryerson for Innovation

Ontario Tech University and Ryerson University are top choices. Ontario Tech’s curriculum emphasizes practical, tech-driven solutions, aligning perfectly with our digital-first approach.

Ryerson’s strong focus on entrepreneurship and real-world experience means graduates are ready to hit the ground running. These schools produce candidates who are not only skilled but also innovative, making them ideal for early-career roles in insurance.

Florida Universities for Practical Experience

In Florida, some of my favorite schools for recruiting interns and recent graduates for early-career insurance jobs are the University of Florida, Florida State University, and the University of Central Florida. These universities have strong business programs with a focus on risk management and insurance.

Furthermore, they provide opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience through internships and networking events with industry professionals. This not only ensures that the students are well-trained and knowledgeable about the insurance industry but also allows for a seamless transition into entry-level roles in our company. Their strong academic reputation and emphasis on practical learning make them ideal candidates for our recruitment efforts.

These programs don’t just teach theory; they offer in-depth curricula with real-world connections, giving students valuable experience.

Recruit from these schools and tap into a pool of qualified interns and early-career hires ready to make a positive impact on your insurance team.
