Workday’s acquisition of HiredScore and reduced revenues at ZipRecruiter and Indeed

College Recruiter’s Founder and Chief Visionary Officer, Steven Rothberg, was recently interviewed by Joseph Wilkie of HRTech Joe about some big news related to the HR tech industry.

First, the massive, human capital management (HCM) platform, Workday, acquired the much smaller but technically advanced, HiredScore applicant tracking system. Was Workday trying to eliminate a competitor? Take advantage of the tech that it has built? Grab customers? Or was it related to something a little more under the radar, such as the war in Gaza?

Then, Joe and Steve talked about the 2023 financial reports coming out of ZipRecruiter and Indeed. At a high level, most of their revenue and profitability numbers were down about 35 percent from 2022 to 2023. Was that as awful as many have been saying? Or should we have been expecting numbers like these?
