Advice for Employers and Recruiters
College Recruiter’s new company-wide wellness day
In addition to the regular stress the average American worker experiences, COVID-19 has added an extra layer of challenges to the plate. With more workers complaining about feeling burned out, employers must reflect on how to help reduce this fatigue. According to a survey conducted by Viser, 70% of employees would leave an organization for another with better resources to reduce burnout. One resource to consider for your employees is offering company wide wellness days.
Recently, College Recruiter did just that.
College Recruiter has announced that all employees will get the same additional day off once a month. The idea was piloted during Thanksgiving of 2021 when College Recruiter employees received one week off of work. The result? Employees returned to work feeling renewed and re-energized and there was no to little loss of productivity, according to College Recruiter’s Founder and Chief Visionary Officer, Steven Rothberg.
Here’s what Faith Rothberg, College Recruiter’s CEO, had to say about the new wellness day initiative:
“When we’re talking to our customers, we want to be sure to tell them that College Recruiter believes that every student and recent graduate deserves a great career. We reference those early-career employees because employers advertise their part-time, seasonal, internship, and entry-level jobs with us. But we also believe that employees with years of experience deserve great careers and part of having a great career is having a well-balanced life. Covid has been terrible, but one benefit of it has been a reminder to all of us that we should work to live instead of living to work.
To some extent, we all struggle to excel in both our personal and professional lives and we all go through times when issues in our personal lives create massive problems in our professional lives. To help minimize these times for our employees, College Recruiter’s Leadership Team just approved a pilot of a monthly wellness day for all of our employees for the first half of 2022. Each month, we’ll all take the same day off of work with pay so that we can all recharge, refresh, and be more productive in both our personal and professional lives. These days are in addition to our existing paid-time-off days. If the pilot succeeds like we think it will, we will make this program permanent.”
