Advice for Employers and Recruiters
Diverse Teams Lead to Best Work
In the workplace, employers want to get the most out of their employees. Establishing a diverse and inclusive workforce helps achieve this goal. Workers with innovative ideas and perspectives help companies obtain new clients and customers.
To help explore these issues, College Recruiter is hosting a College Recruiting Bootcamp on LGBT and other diversity hiring issues on Tuesday, September 29th at the Twilio headquarters in San Francisco. Join us.
Prior to that event, we’ll publish the opinions from a number of talent acquisition and recruiting leaders about why and how employers should diversify their workforces. In today’s article, Patricia Rossman of BASF Corporation discusses the importance of building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
“Today’s businesses encourage diversity in the workplace and today’s graduates expect it. Diversity + inclusion is about more than counting heads, it’s about making all our people count. This goes much deeper than statistics and gets to the heart of building teams where great people can do great work.”
“Building a diverse and inclusive workforce is critical to helping companies achieve ambitious business goals. Embracing diversity means recognizing the unique talents and abilities of our employees and relying on those differences to deliver innovation and creativity.”
“A diverse workforce helps companies elevate team and individual performance. Diverse teams anticipate and meet changing market needs in new ways. They bring multiple lenses to the way we look at and meet our customers’ challenges.”
“Different people bring different ideas, and our customers benefit from fresh approaches. At BASF, we are focused on attracting and selecting the best candidates through diverse candidate slates and interview teams, and recruiting for talent in traditional and non-traditional forums. It’s all pretty simple: We want to build a work environment where the best people can do their best work.”
Patricia Rossman, chief diversity officer, leads BASF’s Diversity and Inclusion Council and actively participates in resource groups. She is a member of the company’s Global Diversity and Inclusion Team, North American Leadership Team, Human Resources Council and Corporate Communications Leadership Team. Rossman spoke at DiversityInc’s web seminar on mentoring and sponsorship and about diversity dashboards at Innovation Fest! in 2012.
