Whether you’re a college student, a recent graduate, or thinking about switching careers and furthering your education, you may have a lot of questions about what field and industry is right for you. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Outlook Handbook, employment in the United States will increase by 10.1 percent between 2008 and 2018, but there are some careers growing at an even faster pace. If you are looking for a career in a stable and growing field, consider one of these hot jobs in 2015.

Health Care

Health care professionals are always needed, especially as much of the health care field is being sent to outpatient services like home health and person aids. According to Health Care Recruiters International, hospitals are trying to streamline their processes and “do more with less,” but that is shifting many patients to more personal outpatient settings. Health professionals who can personalize their care to the patients are in high demand, especially as baby boomers are aging and need more care. Home health nurses and personal care aides are the top two fastest-growing careers in the health care field with an almost 50 percent growth expected by 2022. Jobs like occupational therapists and physical therapists are also in high demand.

Energy and Environment

As our world is becoming a more conscientious and Earth-friendly place. Many industries are in need of environmental professionals. Boston.com lists jobs such as environmental engineers and environmental technicians as two of the fastest-growing jobs by 2018. According to the site, the demand for environmental engineers is driven by almost every industry becoming more eco-conscious, and by health and public concerns about population growth. There are also positions in consulting, law, and nonprofit sectors of the environmental field.

Cyber Security

According to CareerProfile.info, computer information and industrial security is a rapidly growing field with an ever-present need for experts over the next 50 years. As our lives become increasingly more reliant on technology and online communication, the safety and protection of our information is critical. Data and identity theft protection companies such as LifeLock are continually looking for security professionals to help monitor online networks and keep information safe from cyber criminals.

Computer Software Engineering

All engineering fields are always growing and evolving. However, computer software engineering jobs are projected to grow by 21 percent by 2018, according to CareerExplorer.net. This career path requires engineers who can design, develop, and test software for a variety of companies and industries while keeping up-to-date with the newest technology and advancements in the field. The world of technology is always changing and in need of those who can develop cutting-edge software and computer programs.

Interpreters and Translators

Increasing diversification and globalization of the United States and countries all over the world call for cultural and communication interpreters and translators. According to Yahoo Finance, the growth in this field is steady and climbing, but none so much as the need for American Sign Language interpreters and translators for emerging market languages.

Growing international trades and relations will always bring demand to those who can create a cultural and communication bond between global ties.
