During tough economic times job interviews are difficult to land, and some of them more so than others depending on the industry that interests you. Your cover letter must show who you are as a person, as well as a professional. Be sure to add examples and statements that communicate clearly that you’re someone who is eager to work hard, meet expectations, help advance the company’s bottom line, get along with colleagues, and promote harmony wherever you are.

I call this a CAN DO cover letter because it lets the employer know that you can do the work required of the position he or she wants to fill.

You Can Win Over the Hiring Manager

Many job hunters dread the task of writing a winning cover letter. They believe they have to be talented and creative writers in order to come across as professional. But this is not true. All that’s required is to present yourself in an easy, friendly manner, as a person with experience, job skill, and commitment to doing your best.

Such a can do cover letter will give you favor over almost anyone competing for the same position. Why? Because many people compose a stiff, academic sounding letter. Their personality gets lost in the words and they come across as a robot.

But hiring managers aren’t hiring robots. They want people with human emotion, a high work ethic, a team spirit, and moral values––in addition to references to their previous experience and job skills.

You Can Write a Can Do Cover Letter

Create a cover letter that will include the essential facts and qualifications for the job but also show your personality, your character, your humility, and your communication and leadership abilities.

Example: “It would be a pleasure and a privilege to join your firm. I’ve been in customer care for three years and have received many awards for my ingenuity, commitment to the success of the company, and my creativity when it comes to handling customer complaints and compliments and resolving problems to the satisfaction of everyone concerned. May I meet you for an in-person interview where we can discuss your expectations for the person you hire?”

You Can Land a Job Interview

Imagine a hiring manager reading a job search cover letter with this kind of quality and professionalism—one that delivers the facts in a friendly and warm manner. I believe the writer of such a letter would be called for an interview within twenty-four hours of its delivery.

Who wouldn’t want to interview and hire such a man or woman? Become that person by writing a can do cover letter.
