Instagram is a fast, beautiful and fun way to share your life with friends and family. It is one of the most popular mobile photo sharing apps available, for free, from the iTunes App Store for Apple devices like iPhone, iPad and iPod. It is available on Google Play Store as well for Android devices.

It’s also a popular social network having similar functions like Facebook and Twitter, where you create an account, make friends, share customized photos with them and post and like comments.

Instagram can be used just like LinkedIn and Facebook, i.e. looking for job openings and applying for them. In short, with some clever tactics you can use Instagram for your job search easily. So, here are some important tips to help you get started.

1.  Create an Account Using Correct Information and Profile Photo

Like every other social networking site, the first step is to create an account. A complete profile with correct information and a good profile photo will help you more in your job search as compared to an incomplete profile using weird names like Champion Kevin, Princess Sofia, Super Alex, etc. If someone from your industry who can help you get a job views your profile and discovers a weird name, then he will most likely to ignore you, because it may make you look unprofessional.

Similarly, posting a “selfie” of you with your friends in a club, which has become a norm on social networking sites, will certainly not get you any recommendations. Post a professional looking headshot photo of yours with a neutral background. It will help you portray your digital personality to the recruiter or any other viewer.

2.  Create Your Personal Brand

After you are done with the first step, it is now totally up to you how you want to create your personal brand. Brainstorm new ideas, plan everything sensibly and then implement it carefully to use Instagram in your job search. For example: For a financial analyst, Instagram won’t be too helpful as compared to a logo designer. Instagram can be an effective way for logo designers to advertise their skills and talents by sharing their logo designs. This way they will be able to reach out to many individuals and firms.

Be creative. Discover how you want to market yourself and how you might be able to come up with interesting ideas to enhance your profile for job search.

3.  Follow Companies

If you have a company in mind that you want to work for, don’t forget to follow them. You can find everything about a company by following their official page on Instagram. This way you can stay updated with a company and connect with them and build a strong network. You can edit your Instagram account to showcase your interest in things that your desired company is interested in. You can even stay updated in case there is a job opening in the company you wish to work for.

4.  Hashtags

One of the most impressive ways to get a company to notice your Instagram account is to use hashtags. Use industry keywords as hashtags to describe the pictures you’ve posted.

For example: If you have created a new logo and want others to know about it, then all you have to do is upload the logo and hashtag #(name of the firm). This will make your photo searchable and easier to find by those individuals or firms who are looking for rebranding of their company logos. This could lead to a lot of connections and a strong network. Hashtags also boost your photo’s placement in general search results. You never know you might be called up by one of industries’ giants after they see your work.

Conclusion

Thanks to Instagram and other popular social networking sites, finding and applying for a job has become really easy. By using these techniques, you can easily find a job and work in the company you admire.
