Unemployment Rate for Technology Jobs Below National Average

If you are searching for a job in technology, then you’re likely to find one.  While the unemployment rate is 7.8% nationally, the technology sector is doing even better with an unemployment rate around 6%.  At the same time, 54% of CIOs said it’s challenging to find skilled professionals today, according to Robert Half Technology’s Q4 IT Hiring Index.

Below is a list of IT positions with the lowest unemployment rates, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics:

Ø  Computer and information research scientists: 0.9%

Ø  Network and computer systems administrators: 1.7%

Ø  Chief executives (includes CIOs): 1.8%

Ø  Computer and information systems managers: 2.2%

Ø  Software developers, applications and systems software: 2.3%

Ø  Database administrators: 3.1%

Ø  Computer systems analysts: 3.8%

Ø  Computer network architects: 4.0%

Ø  Web developers: 4.3%

Ø  Computer programmers: 5.3%

Ø  Computer support specialists: 6.0%
