William Frierson of CollegeRecruiter.comDo you have an idea of how you want your career to go? While you may have a career plan, it is important to realize that everything does not always go according to plan. That is why you need a reality check. Keep these thoughts in mind as you prepare for the future:

The new job security– In the past, someone’s job was safe by doing it a specific way. However, in today’s job market, staying employed involves developing skills to do that job differently or learning a new skill set for a new position.

Flexibility is key– You may not always want to do so, but adapting to change is a possibility in your career. View change as a learning experience.

You have to market yourself– Career opportunities don’t just come along, you must go after them. Tell people who you are and what you have to offer.

Now that you’ve had some reality checks about your potential career plan, go out and achieve your goals.
