Getting Your Job Search on Track for 2010
It’s a new year! That means college students and recent graduates who are looking for entry level jobs must prepare for their job searches. In a tight job market, they must pay attention to the factors that could make or break their chances of securing employment.
Here are some suggestions to help college students and recent graduates with their entry level job searches:
Strategy – Evaluate your self-marketing job strategy. Decide what will be most effective for you to do in order to find job opportunities.
Networking tools – Make a list of the people who may serve as resources in your job search. Also, consider using tools, such as LinkedIn, to stay in touch with career professionals and former colleagues.
Resume – Keep your resume up-to-date, and make sure that it reflects you, and what your potential employer is looking for.
Attitude and Support – While job searching, surround yourself with positive people and things to keep yourself motivated in the process.
Diary of Search – Record information relative to your job search such as any contacts and hiring managers whom you speak with. You never know who may have a job opportunity waiting for you.
