Summer Military Jobs with the Air Force

There are new opportunities for those seeking temporary military jobs.
The U.S. Air Force recently began advertising hundreds of positions for the agency’s annual summer employment program. Positions range from office automation and computer clerks to laborers to lifeguards and recreation aides.
In order to be considered for a summer position, you must meet one of the following qualifications:

• Be eligible for the Student Temporary Employment Program – You must at least be enrolled in an accredited high school or accepted for enrollment as a degree-seeking student; taking at least a half-time course load at an accredited technical, vocational, two- or four-year college or university, or graduate or professional school.
• Have Veteran Recruitment Appointment eligibility – You must be a disabled veteran; a veteran who served on active duty in the Armed Forces during a war or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized; or participated in a military operation for which an Armed Forces Service Medal was awarded while serving on active duty in the Armed Forces; or a recently separated veteran.
• Be a documented 30-percent disabled veteran – You must have served in the military, be able to produce proof of service and disability, and have a service-connected disability of 30 percent or more.
• Have reinstatement status – You must be a former career or career-conditional federal civil service employee.

Summer positions are temporary appointments scheduled to end October 2, and not all bases will be offering summer positions. Depending on the type of position, a physical exam may be required prior to being hired.
