Staying positive, new area may provide better results

Hello, everyone. I haven’t posted here since sometime before the holiday. Just thought I would give an update. My husband & I are moving to Florida in 3 weeks. He is ending his military (Reserves) LPN program and graduating. He is transferring to a Florida unit. He plans to work as a nurse, go to school and do the ROTC thing. We are moving to a small town near Daytona Beach. We have family there and have visited the area on vacations. We loved it. We will be here for a few years, after this we will be travelling from place to place as “active” members (myself in the spouse role) in the U.S military. The next stop will probably be TX and the Physician’s Assistant program there that my husband plans to complete via the military.
My plans include graduate school in 2008. I have been studiously working on my graduate school online application. I will be busy studying for the GRE and the only other item I have to
complete is the fun personal statement/essay. I have a pretty good knowledge of application processes and such as I worked at various offices at a university, including positions processing admission applications and working within a graduate department assisting in their admission process. I will need to wait one year to gain Florida residency as my husband may also need to do. This is fine with me as I will concentrate on working, hopefully in my field which is Journalism. Since I just graduated with a second bachelor’s in Journalism, that would be great. However, I am in desperate need of employment after being unemployed for the past 6 months, so I am opening myself up to administrative opportunities as I have an administrative employment history/background. I am excited to be moving to an area with a wider array of opportunities than the one in which I currently reside. I have enjoyed living in this area, but with the limited timeframe I had to work with, I did not have much success with job searching and leads. The one call I received was too late, of course! At any rate, I am thinking positive! I just applied for a Marketing Assistant position at a local healthcare system amd I would be elated to receive a position. I can always keep my options open if something opens up in my field or an opportunity becomes available. I am finding that breaking into this field is challenging, but nothing that my journalism professors did not warn me about. I need more experience, that is all. I have been challenged, as I have always needed to work and didn’t get as much college newspaper experience as I should have, but I know that I can succeed! I will just keep working at this! I hope to get into the Mass Communications’ grad program, also. This is something more for me than future employment, though it will obviously help out on that end, also. I know that I need experience, experience, experience more than anything else !!!!
I will write again soon, maybe on a more centralized topic than I have in my previous blogs ….
