Career Advice with a Different Slant

It’s one of those days when the important task is getting more, useful information out to the readers. It’s also one of those days when getting caught up on other spheres of responsibility are beckoning. The two collided when I finished reading one of the new entries in the Recruiting.com / JobSyntax Blog Swap and then decided to explore Jim Stroud’s 2.0. Oh, lordy! What did I find but the podcaster, video master, recruiter, and recruiting cartoonist’s pages devoted to Comics.

There’s a saying. A picture is worth a thousand words. Well, I don’t know how many cartoon frames equal a thousand, but in four frames, Jim captures many sticky job search situations and leaves you chuckling, laughing, thinking — in any order. There are times when the idea just doesn’t come through in prose. There are times when, in the midst of keyboarding those profound words of advice, the two get tangled and lost in the transportation. Jim manages to overcome those little glitches with his succinct frames.
What he does is provide a view of how the recruiter works with the candidate, how some candidates interview, how recruiters swap trade industry stories with one another, insights into the recruiting business. Sometimes it’s good to know the recruiting side of the job hunt so that one has an appreciation of what’s going on after leaving the recruiter’s office.
All that said (in the last paragraph), please bear in mind that these are comics. But they’re very informative.
