Minneapolis, Minnesota, February 11, 2004 – More college and university students and recent graduates who are actively seeking work are optimistic about their job search process, according to the results of a poll released today by CollegeRecruiter.com, an online job listing service for students and recent graduates with zero to three years of experience.

“We were heartened to see that job seekers are becoming more optimistic about their chances of success,” said Steven Rothberg, President and Founder of CollegeRecruiter.com. “While we have felt that the labor market as a whole has been improving since May 2003, that feeling now seems to be shared by many of the students and recent graduates who use our site to help them find new jobs.”

The CollegeRecruiter.com poll asked more than 1,000 college students and recent graduates how many more months do they expect it will take them to find a new job:

  • 33 percent pessimistically expected that it would take them more than six months (37 percent in June 2003 poll)
  • 25 percent very optimistically expected that it would take them one month or less (14 percent in June 2003 poll)
  • 22 percent optimistically expected that it would take them two to three months (26 percent in June 2003 poll)
  • 20 percent expected that it would take them four to six months (16 percent in June 2003 poll)
