Beaver Works Summer Institute Assistant

Beaver Works Summer Institute (BWSI) is a world class educational outreach program that challenges high school students across the country to develop robust autonomy algorithms using state-of-the-art autonomous systems and sensors.

A summer administrative assistant is needed to contribute to the Beaver Works Summer Institute (BWSI) programs.  The students attend the program from early July through final event weekend August 3-5, 2018.  The assistant will provide support before, during and after the four weeks when the students are attending.   The assistant will help organize the classes, students and events for the summer.  The assistant will primarily work alongside the Beaver Works Summer Institute Program Manager as well as Lincoln Laboratory and MIT staff.


The assistant should be able to work independently as well as interacting with instructors, guests and high-school students.  This role entails managing behind-the-scene logistics such as overseeing room reservations, student coordination, tracking students and staff, organizing a final event in August and assist with the overall planning and execution of the summer program.


Responsibilities include:

o   Coordinate food orders for students and staff of 250

o   Provide check-ins on classes and assist with the coordination of the students

o   Provide administrative support as requested

o   Coordinate room bookings, class lists and send confirmations to staff/instructors

o   Assist with event registration for final event August 5, 2018



  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program
  • Ability to demonstrate effective knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Effective communication skills
  • Normal work hours for this position are 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday
  • Work location will be in Cambridge, MA at Beaver Works and other locations near the MIT campus
