Music Therapist

The agency reserves the right, at any time, with or without notice, to alter or change your job responsibilities, reassign and/or ask for your assistance and cooperation in performing additional work; either on special projects or other work necessary or important to the operation of your department or the agency.     Summary: Responsible to provide Music therapy to clients in a 1:1 setting in accordance with the individual's ISP.   Essential Responsibilities:   Provide direct music therapy services in a small group/ group setting to enhance client's daily activities. Music therapy services will address the physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of individuals.   All billable services will be documented via Therap to include: dates, times of service, description of activity and progress towards goals. All billing documentation must be completed within 24 hours of time of service. Music Therapist will be required to have at least 80% of their scheduled hours billable   Music Therapist will forward all needed documentation to records for uploading to Advocare. This will include assessments and quarterly reports.   Compile, complete and maintain updated files for each individual, including but not limited to progress notes and attendance sheets, quarterly reports, assessments, and incident and behavioral reports.Use the music therapy process as described in the Board Certification Domains distributed by The Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) to provide adequate services.   Music Assessment will be conducted and completed at the beginning of services. It must be completed within 14 days of assessment. Effectively communicate with Hillcroft staff, case managers, families and caregivers, and interns. Collaborate with Hillcroft staff through treatment process, including direct client services and trainings.   Provide support to client's families and caregivers through the use of music.   Complete up to date Behavior Support Trainings (BSP) with client's behavioral consultant and team members.   Attend annual and quarterly meetings when available. Provide input into appropriate goals to be formulated for ISP. The Music Therapist is part of an interdisciplinary team and will need to report information at team meetings and case conferences.   Comply with the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) Code of Ethics and the Certification Board for Music Therapist's (CBMT) Scope of Practice, Division of Disabilities and Rehabilitative Services (DDRS) Waiver Manual, as well as the Hillcroft Employee Handbook.   Participate in monthly supervision meetings with director to ensure all aspects of music therapy services are operating efficiently. Brainstorm ideas to help integrate music therapy into existing programs and create new and fulfilling opportunities for clients.   Work with client's teams, as well as Hillcroft staff, to advocate for music therapy services for individuals. Provide information to team members during the referral process to obtain approval for music therapy services. Help families, caregivers, team members, and community members understand the field of music therapy and other services Hillcroft provides.     Qualifications: Education, Training and Experience Bachelor's Degree or higher in Music Therapy - requiredMust have MT-BC credentials, having completed (or is eligible to sit for) the Music Therapy Board Certification Examination – required.Must maintain MT-BC certification in compliance with Certification Board for Music Therapists. Preferred qualifications include professional affiliations with the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA), Great Lakes Region of American Music Therapy Association (GLR), and Association for Indiana Music Therapy (AIMT) – Preferred. Critical skills/expertise: Ability to utilize a computer with word processing and database software - required.Ability to interact effectively with people.Ability to perform light to moderate lifting when needed.Ability to view computer screen or other close work less than 18 inches.Advocate for the music therapy profession through the teaching, performing and presentation of music therapy to assist in educating co-workers and community members.   Essential position characteristics: Physical requirements: Ability to freely travel and move to all agency buildings as well as out of town meetings and required trainings. Must be able to physically assist clients as needed.
