Consider this. As a Sr Design Engineer at James Hardie, you will work to design new fixtures and equipment for the production of our product lines in the fiber cement manufacturing process.

The Sr. Design engineer is a complete self-starter and can work independently on full life-cycle design projects. Everything from creating CAD drawings, engineering solutions, overseeing suppliers and vendors in the building process and then installing them onto our production lines.


You’ll designed machines/automation, and truly be considered a resident expert in the improvement of our manufacturing processes as you implement the next generation of production and tooling equipment. You’ll be based in our Fontana, CA facility, located just outside of Los Angeles but travel up to 50% of the time as you implement solutions system-wide.

  • BS Degree in a technical or engineering discipline
  • 10+ years of experience designing industrial fixtures, machines and automation systems.
  • Expert level project management experience
  • CAD drawing experience, with either Solidworks or Inventor
  • Knowledge of Equipment and Machine Design Standards and Specifications including AWS, ANSI, and ASTM (preferred, and Global Drawing Standards
  • Able/willing to be located in Fontana, CA and travel up to 50% of the time
