Job Summary

Promotes a vibrant and exciting work atmosphere for technologists while utilizing positivity to highlight teammate accomplishments. Leads dynamic workplace initiatives to increase productivity and excel in every aspect of patient care. Oversees and conducts the technical and support staff for the Radiology MRI dept. Utilizes knowledge and expertise in medical imaging during daily operations. Problem-solves and troubleshoots during routine exams and sophisticated procedures.


Essential Functions



  • Coordinates the patient flow in and out of the MRI department by prioritizing procedures and shifting workloads as needed. Oversees intricate procedures and ensures safety, quality and efficiency.
  • Obtains medications, radiopharmaceuticals and contrast media as directed for administration by a licensed technologist, RN or physician.
  • Provides education on new techniques and procedures and innovation through and engaging method of teaching.
  • Keeps staff informed of new policies and changes departmentally.
  • Performs evaluations of technical and support staff as mandated in policies.
  • Ensures documentation and reports on equipment and supply needs are current.
  • Facilitates service recovery with patients and physicians; provides proper documentation for complaints and incident reports.
  • Strives for continued proficiency and excellence in system management , technology and computer applications.
  • Trouble-shoots equipment or procedural problems with appropriate follow-up to service engineers, managers and physicians.
  • Regulates and maintains quality control tests and makes needed adjustments for operational excellence.


Physical Requirements
Requires frequent stretching, bending, twisting, squatting and kneeling in performing diagnostic procedures. Lifting, pushing, pulling and gripping may be required for positioning and moving patients or equipment. Vision and hearing for distances of at least 20 feet is necessary. May be required to carry up to 25 pounds while moving film jackets, stocking supplies or relocating equipment. 50% of the work time will require standing and 50% of the work time will be operating computers and equipment requiring manual dexterity and the use of hands. Precision manual dexterity is required for venipuncture and precise laboratory or pharmacy procedures.

Education, Experience and Certifications
High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of a formal AMA Approved Technology program required. Registry with either the NMTCB or ARRT and previous supervisory experience required. 3 years experience with a thorough background in data processing and tomographic applications required. Must have complete knowledge of current technology and direction. Ability to perform in a busy, high-tech setting.
