Job Summary

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant in Pediatric Interventional Cardiology works in collaboration with the supervising physician and assists in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures for cardiology patients with critical acuity. The ACP will work with our two interventionalists and one transplant cardiologist, and be the liaison between the Pediatric Cardiologist, patients and families, and staff. Our new state of the art two Cath Lab suites opened in February 2017 right beside our CVICU. The cath lab volume has been growing at a rate of 10-15% per year, and we will be developing a 3-D printing program in the next 6 months. Active industry sponsored research is ongoing, and there are many opportunities for clinical research projects.

 

Essential Functions

  • Provides advanced nursing per- and post-procedure recovery care, clinical management, and monitoring
  • Provides education and support for Pediatric Interventional Cardiology patients and their families
  • Serve as the liaison and resource for multidisciplinary health care team members, patients, and families
  • Utilize interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism
  • Lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate with other healthcare team members
  • Utilize expertise in the delivery of care to the whole person

 

Physical Requirements
Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Must speak English fluently and in understandable terms. Must possess intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch, and finger dexterity. Must have the ability to react and perform in stressful situations.

Education, Experience and Certifications.
.Must have or be eligible for a DEA license. Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state one works. Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in SC required. BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice. Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and concentrate. 5 years’ experience in specific specialty required; management/supervisory experience preferred.


Nurse Practitioner

Master’s Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required. ACNP, AGACNP, PNP-AC or NNP board certification preferred according to population served

Physician Assistant
Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required; Master's Degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred.
