Shift: Full Time, Rotating Days and Nights with 12 hour shifts from 7 to 7 This position will be scheduled in the CVICU at The Christ Hospital Health Network main campus located at 2139 Auburn Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219. Primary Purpose: The Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) is prepared with graduate level nursing education and authorized to practice and prescribe as a Certified Nurse Practitioner in collaboration with one or more physicians. The advanced clinical practice for the ACNP includes the following components: assessment of patient health status, diagnostic testing, diagnoses, development of treatment plans, implementation of treatment plans, follow-up and evaluation of the patient's response to treatment, accurate documentation of the patient's status, and patient advocacy. The ACNP will utilize the nursing process and demonstrate an extensive knowledge of pathophysiology, pharmacology, and critical care medicine, and have skills in exercising judgment and/or initiating medical processes and procedures. The ACNP will work under the direction of a clinical manager or nursing director and under the supervision of a collaborating physician(s) for designed clinical outcomes by assisting in admitting patients, evaluating consultations, performing history and physicals, triaging and intervening in acute clinical crisis (under the physician's direction), transferring and discharging patients, supporting the clinical needs and decisions of the health care team, and to provide family-centered care by meeting the needs of the patient and family with education, and psychosocial support. The ACNP will share responsibility for management of the caseload with the physician. Required Skills and Knowledge: The NP demonstrates the knowledge, abilities, and skills to provide culturally specific patient care and education. The NP effectively communicates with peers, utilizes appropriate channels of communication and maintains confidentiality. The NP demonstrates evidence of continuing professional growth. The NP demonstrates the ability accept and implement change and the ability to work in a culturally diverse setting. Education:Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing Masters NP program. Experience: Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with prior RN or NP critical care experience preferably minimum of 3-5 years; or Physician Assistant with 3-5 years critical care experience . . 5 Years minimum experience as a registered nurse with critical care, cardiology, or cardiovascular experience preferred. One year experience as a CCNP in a critical care environment preferred. Licensure and Certifications: The ACNP holds a current licensure to practice in her/his state of employment Certificate to Prescribe Membership in professional organizations is desirable. ACLS and BLS Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of all organizations with which he/she will be practicing, and the Ohio State Board of Nursing #TJN Cincinnati Enquirer.
