Shift: Part Time, Days On call is required but at very manageable levels, weekend coverage about every 10th weekend. Call is usually assigned on weekends/no office coverage. This position will be scheduled in The Lindner Center for Research and Education at The Christ Hospital Health Network Medical Office Building located at 2123 Auburn Avenue, Suite 424 Cincinnati, Ohio 45219. Unit Description: Patients are recruited from inpatient, outpatient and physician office population. They are required to possess the characteristics required by the clinical trial. Primarily these are cardiovascular patients but as our number and types of clinical trials grow, there are three new divisions, women's health, ortho/spine, and cancer research. Their care is directed by the specific research protocol and treatment may occur at The Lindner Center, in the hospital (various departments like Cath Lab, OR, EP, ICU, and pelvic floor Unit, Ortho/spine hospital, or Cancer Center), or the physician's office. At some time participants are recruited from the general population as they hear about our trials. The care delivered varies by the protocol and requires strong nursing foundation and skills upon which to draw. Job entails about 60% desk work and 40% patient care. Primary Purpose: The Interventional Research RN accurately and professionally executes all clinical projects in an acute care/inpatient (ED, Cath Lab, EP Lab, ICU/step down area, physician office, O.R.) setting assigned to him/her, assists in project initiation, facilitates patient enrollment, maintains patient continuance, assure protocol compliance, reports to sponsor on progress/status, and coordinates study participation with other clinical health plan. This position is may perform the following job duties: Collects all clinical data in an accurate and timely manner. Services as primary clinical contact person for study sponsor, patient, family, and other healthcare contacts/department. Coordinates patient activities to provide compliance and educates patients as to the importance of compliance with study objectives through ongoing education and reminders. Facilitates and maintains high patient enrollment and participation in research protocols. Participates directly in patient care duties associated with projects. May perform other duties as required. Skills and Knowledge: A nurse must have strong nursing knowledge and skill in the specialty area Excellent communication and follow-up skills Strong organizational skills Willingness to deal with fast pace and complex subject matter Enjoys changes and has zest for learning Willingness to understand the unique job tasks and accept a feeling of knowledge deficit for about 6 months, knowing full independence will be actualized in one year Education: RN Diploma degree or Associates in Nursing required, BSN preferred. Experience: 3-5 years critical care experience required with 3 years clinical research and FDA/IRB regulations operations preferred.
