The Leadership Gifts Officer is a hybrid position and is primarily responsible for (i) identifying and qualifying prospects, including grants and foundation support, (ii) soliciting and closing gifts of $25,000 and above; and (iii) helping build a donor pipeline, to advance the strategic priorities of New England College. The Leadership Gifts Officer will be responsible for managing a portfolio of rated prospects assigned and for establishing and achieving annual performance metrics
- Manage a portfolio of assigned leadership gift prospects of $25,000 and above. Through personal and virtual engagement, identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, close, and steward prospects for leadership and potential major level gifts. Meet activity and revenue goals through personal outreach and regular travel.
- Formulate and implement strategies for short-and long-term giving outcomes, devising performance metrics, and collaborating with the VP, AVP and Director of Annual Giving.
- Works with faculty to identify fundraising opportunities as well as current fundraising initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with prospect management guidelines for data entry and metric tracking.
- Responsible for making a minimum of 100 individual visits/meaningful contacts per year with donors and prospects.
- Manage and maintain a portfolio of some of the College’s corporation/corporate prospects, including the College’s vendors and other strategic corporate partners. Actively cultivate and solicit corporations for philanthropic support of the College, primarily within the context of the annual alumni golf tournament.
- Help our donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a relationship with the College.
- Manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including our donor database and wealth screening tools.
- Manage existing portfolio of up to 175 donors and prospects.
- Create and implement moves management plans.
- Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assist other staff with their solicitation (e.g. provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications).
- Acknowledge major donors through public and private recognition.
- Track and report progress using specific metrics.
- Demonstrated record of soliciting and closing philanthropic gifts.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, demonstrate an understanding of the ethical principles associated with working in development, and to use discretion in interactions with members of the New England College community.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, along with the ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies.
- Strong written, communication, organizational, and analytical skills as well as a sense of humor.
- Skill in the use of Microsoft office and fund-raising software applications, including database management.
- Ability and willingness to maintain an external travel schedule.
- Minimum of three to five years of experience in fundraising, grant, and foundation work, preferably in higher education, with a proven track record of success.
- Experience successfully soliciting and closing leadership/annual gifts is preferred.
