This client is an established market-leading FTSE 250 company operating within the Defence Technology sector. The company are a world-centre of excellence in research and development, acting as a catalyst for fast-track innovation offering outstanding experimentation facilities, technical engineering and scientific expertise.   • The client is offering the Supply Chain Manager a competitive salary of 45-55k, as well as both a collaborative and rewarding working environment. There is vast potential for career progression across a global organisation.

Role Purpose

  • The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for negotiating high value, high risk and complex contracts on behalf of our global business.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience liaising with senior internal stakeholders, negotiating favourable contract terms and conditions with OEMs and establishing timely, value for money agreements with acceptable risk.
  • Experience in the procurement of major equipment and services requirements in the defence industry is preferable.
  • Driving out unnecessary expenditure in order to reduce corporate overhead and the timely delivery of contractual solutions within bid & project timescales.
  • The Supply Chain Manager will need to be able to identify, develop and nurture positive supplier relationships in order to meet future aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Sector and Indirect Procurement Teams to identify opportunities to utilise extant supplier relationships and frameworks that leverage Group scale.
  • The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for identifying repeat requirements from the projects pipeline and placing demands on the Sector and Indirect Procurement Team to deliver suitable, long-term contracting mechanisms.
  • Collaboratively develop industrial strategies with key stakeholders to ensure alignment of targets, improve supplier performance, and implement continuous improvement plans across spend.

Key Competencies

  • Looking for a self-starter who possesses Procurement and Supply Chain Management experience, relevant knowledge & experience of procurement and a proven track record of success within the industry.
  • The Supply Chain Manager should be delivery, results and customer focussed with both a propensity to exceed expectations and the ability to thrive independently with a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
  • Confident communicator, influencer & relationship builder. A professional who is detail orientated by nature and possesses the ability to problem solve.
  • Proficient in the identification & mitigation of supply chain, organisational, regulatory, legal & commercial risk. Experience of conducting international business is advantageous.
