Preferred Qualifications Position Summary The Pest Control Specialist is a working / lead role. The position will perform all aspects of pest control including the surveillance (interior & immediate exterior perimeter), monitoring, trapping, pesticide application and pest removal components, while supervising other Pest Control Technician(s). Supervision will include all aspects of supervising an employee to include, providing direction and assignments, performance evaluations, time keeping, training, processing work orders, etc. In coordination with the Manager, the Pest Control Specialist will be responsible for developing the internal pest control standard operating procedures ( SOP ) and maintaining it. Pesticides will be applied only by certified operators or persons under their direct supervision and only for those uses covered by the Georgia Structural Pest Control Act. Conduct exterior perimeter inspections of the building for rodent/pest activity, treat and report any building maintenance or grounds issues that may contribute to pest issues. Conduct scheduled interior inspections, treat and report any building maintenance or custodial issues, to appropriate staff or departments that may contribute to pest issues. Expected pest includes but not restricted to rats, mice, cockroaches, flies, roaches, ants, beetles, centipedes, slugs, fire ants, pharaoh ants, bees, wasps, & hornets. This position is responsible for keeping accurate pesticide application records and pesticide inventory. All pest control work shall be performed in a safe manner and in accordance with the most current effective methods and materials available in the pest control industry. The materials used in pest control services shall conform to Federal, State, and Local Ordinances and Laws. All pest control services performed and materials applied shall comply with all regulatory and industry recognized safety precautions. This position may work in collaboration with other departments of FMD as a larger Integrated Pest Management strategy. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Georgia Pesticide Applicators License
  • Pesticide application experience for interior structures and immediate surroundings.
  • Understanding and ability to apply all interior and exterior pesticides, bates, traps, sprayers, foggers, etc.
  • Understand and follow and direct specific oral and written instructions
  • Ability to access, read, send email, data input and reporting in a CMMS , chemical storage record keeping
Physical Demands
  • Constant physical labor 8 hours a day/5 days a week
  • Extensive/constant stooping, bending, squatting and working with hands above head
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. consistently throughout the workday.
  • Climb stairs and access attic spaces by way of attic ladders.
  • Wear applicable face and other PPE required to apply pesticides.
  • Driving as needed to perform job tasks.
