* Using the Quality Caring Model, the Newborn Nurse attends deliveries and provides care to infants after delivery.
* This role reports to the Director of Labor & Delivery.
* The Newborn Nurse has a high level of autonomy while collaborating with our care management team, including physicians, NICU team and charge nurse.


* Attend deliveries and focus on care of infant after delivery in private recovery rooms (known as couplet care) to a diverse patient population.
* Use your critical thinking and prioritization skills to adjust to changing patient statuses.
* Interface directly with Physicians for patient advocacy.
* Assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate response to high-risk neonatal complications.
* Perform all newborn screening tests and standard lab work.
* Maintain appropriate patient care and infection control techniques.

What you will need


* Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (with requirement to obtain a BSN/MSN within a specific time frame)
* Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
* BLS certification (American Heart Association).
* At least 1 year of nursing experience in an L&D environment
* NRP certification; or obtain within 1st year of hire.
* *For RNs working in Labor and Delivery, High Risk Perinatal Center and Float Pool E: NCC EFM Certification. For novice RNs and experienced RNs newly hired, certification must be obtained within twelve months of hire.


* BSN or MSN preferred.
