The Department of Family Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Part-time Nutritionist to work in the UHealth Campus. The Nutritionist designs and implements therapeutic nutritional care plans for patients using general dietetic standards and regulations to promote good dietary health. Moreover, the Nutritionist educates staff, patient and families, monitors and documents patient progress, and consults with physicians as needed.

* Focuses on the nutritional aspect of a patient's lifestyle and is able to educate and encourage the patient towards making appropriate changes depending on patient's goals, lifestyle, health issues and risks.

* Comfortable with public speaking and makes regular educational presentations.

* Identifies ways to improve care of patients and makes recommendations to appropriate staff.

* Assesses and monitors patients' progress, maintaining detailed and complete records of health care plans within Epic.

* Performs advanced nutrition-related testing, can make appropriate recommendations, and has facility with interpretation of tests.

* Incorporates the use of supplements, prescribing appropriate and thoughtful regimens to patients including dosage, frequency, duration, possible side effects, and drug interactions.

* Researches and recommends ways to expand and improve nutrition programs within the UM campuses and within the community including culinary medicine.

* Collaborates with other health care professionals, such as physical therapists, chiropractors, physicians, Chinese Medicine physicians, etc. to develop a treatment plan both within the Integrative Health team and outside of it.

* Identifies research opportunities and willing to partner with colleagues in research.

* Communicates with providers across the UM Medical campus as appropriate.

* Bachelor's Degree in relevant field

* Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

* Certification in relevant specialty or field

* Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

* Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.

* Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

* Ability to understand and follow instructions.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
