A) Performs crystal growth and related technological processes in accordance with instructions from the R&D team. Duties include, but not limited to: prepare raw material and hot zone component for crystal growth, inspect seeds, load growth crucible into growth furnace, operate growth furnace, unload growth crucible, clean growth furnace, inspect grown crystals, enter observations and process records into Database.

B) Monitors and adjusts temperature, pressure, power and other process parameters. Maintains accurate records of process parameters.

C) Supports the maintenance of raw material, graphite and spare parts inventories.

D) Supports the development and evolution of operating procedures.

E) Supports R&D efforts in other areas such as seed preparation/characterization as needed.

F) Participates in FMEA activities.

G) Participates in troubleshooting of crystal growth equipment when malfunctions occur and identifies causes. Participates in in-house equipment repairs that restore it to operating condition.

H) Keeps crystal growth and charge preparation areas clean. Actively participates in housekeeping initiatives.

I) Follows all health, safety, environmental and ergonomic requirements, regulations and procedures.

Education & Experience

* Associate Degree in engineering/science is a minimum requirement. Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science discipline is preferred.
* One to three years direct experience in a technical role.
* Experience in R&D laboratory preferred.
* Experience in testing and data analysis, process improvement and equipment maintenance preferred.
* Computer literate. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Email and Internet.


* Must be technically inclined with good mechanical skills.
* Must be well organized and able to perform several tasks in parallel.
* Must be computer-literate to operate computer-controlled equipment and make data entry.
* ITAR compliance requirement: Individual must be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident Alien, or Protected Individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
* Strong interpersonal, teaming, and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions

* 100% on site; Normal working hour 9-5; however, must be prepared to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends as a part of R&D work schedule.

Physical Requirements

* Must be able to lift 50lb parts

Safety Requirements

All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and II-VI Corporate EHS standards.
