Responsibilities

Responsible for the foam pouring operations on Variable Pressure Foaming (VPF) equipment.

Manage and lead pour line operating team, including a supervisor chemical engineer and up to eight hourly production personnel. Ensure compliance with all plant and corporate safety procedures for the safe handling of chemical raw materials.

Direct Chemical Engineers to ensure that safety is the number one priority in all Pour line department activities and that all safety procedures are followed by all members of the Pour line team.

Lead Chemical Engineers who are using their knowledge of and experience with maintaining the proper calibration of all chemical streams for accurate metering.

Direct Chemical Engineers working with plant engineering team to maintain all foam production equipment to provide reliable operation.

Supervise Chemical Engineers who are using their knowledge of and experience with SAP to become fully competent in all pour line functions and transactions.

Direct Chemical Engineers who are using their knowledge of and experience with monitoring and analyzing the quality results of current foam production, modify process/formulation as appropriate, prepare data and equipment for new production runs.

Lead Chemical Engineers who are using their knowledge of and experience with adjusting formulas as needed to maintain product within specifications.

Supervise Chemical Engineers who are using their knowledge of and experience with performing chemical formulation calculations of the foam; working with mechanical and chemical variables that affect foam production.

Direct Chemical Engineers who are troubleshooting equipment or foam formulation problems and solving process issues.

Lead Chemical Engineers who are using their knowledge of and experience with preparing detailed Root Cause Analysis information to document how problems were found and corrected.

Supervise Chemical Engineers who are using their knowledge of and experience with conducting trials to develop new and improved manufacturing processes and foam formulations.

Manage Chemical Engineers who are using their knowledge of and experience with foam pouring operations on Variable Pressure Foaming (VPF) equipment to meet all foam quality specifications across a wide variety of foam formulations specific to foam processed through VPF.

Lead Chemical Engineers who are using their knowledge of and experience with supervising and managing the Pour line in the absence of the Pour line Manager

Supervise Chemical Engineers who are using their knowledge of and experience with creating and maintaining appropriate department documents to ensure safe and efficient operations, including SOP's, checklists, JHA's, and Training records.

Direct Chemical Engineers who are using their knowledge of and experience with overseeing inventory control and ordering of chemicals/raw materials.

Lead Chemical Engineers who are using their knowledge of and experience with tracking equipment downtime and unscheduled shutdowns using Pareto techniques to focus efforts on the most important areas.

Manage Chemical Engineers who are using their knowledge of and experience with monitoring and working to improve key operating parameters such as set-up time to pouring efficiency and use of resources.

Supervise Chemical Engineers who are using their knowledge of and experience with the continuous improvement process on the pour line to strive to reduce the cost of foam formulations while still meeting all customer specifications.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Chemical Engineering required.

2 years' experience in the job or 2 years of experience as a Chemical Engineer, performing the duties of Pour Line manager.
