- Obtains a complete nursing assessment on all patients.
- Responsible for ongoing clinical management of the patient, promotes and participates in patient education and teaching and administers medications, and IV therapy, and performs venipunctures.
- Promotes cost containment while delivering quality patient care within the surgical services department.
- Maintains accurate and legible documentation to ensure accountability for assessments and patient plan of care and accurate patient charging.
- Pursues own professional growth through continuing education and in-services and provides leadership.
- Communicates effectively and professionally with peers, supervisors, ancillary departments and all other external/internal customers.
- Demonstrates flexibility to perform other functions within Surgical Services and procedural areas to assist in the smooth operation of the departments and maintain competencies as appropriate.
- Adheres to hospital policies and procedures; supports the mission of the hospital.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Experience in an acute care facility or similar clinical area
- RN – Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state in which he or she practices or holds active compact state licensure
- BLS required
- ACLS and PALS within 6 months of hire
