JOB SUMMARY
Reporting directly to Chief Victim Assistance Coordinator, responsible for processing casework to provide victims with resources and services.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
* Schedules victim appointments to access needs
* Provides crisis intervention resources to victims and their families
* Collaborates with community services and mental health professionals on victim assistance programs
* Maintains case management files and provides ongoing follow-up appointments
* Collaborates with County Attorney's office on protective orders and judicial support
* Processes and assists victims with paperwork for referrals, compensation, and other benefits
* Coordinates counseling and emergency shelter placement for victims
* Serves as department liaison for meetings and community awareness
* Serves as an advocate and support for juvenile victims during interviews
* Provides customer service to internal and external customers via telephone, email or in person
* Attends meetings and trainings as necessary
* Performs special duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
* Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and occasional lifting/carrying
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
* Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment
* Regular travel between work sites as required
IRREGULAR HOURS
* Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be required
* Requires flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and/or weekend hours
* May be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergency

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* High school diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of social work, criminal justice, or related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required within thirty (30) days of employment
* Valid Texas driver's license
* Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) 100, 200 and 700 Certification
* Criminal Justice Information Systems User Certification (CJIS)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in behavioral health, criminal justice or related field
* Degree in a related field
* Three (3) years of case management experience
* Three (3) years of experience working with crime victims
