Neami National has partnered with the Larrakia Nation to deliver a new Adult Mental Health Centre in Darwin, Northern Territory, Darwin Head to Health.

The Darwin Head to Health Centre will provide an entry point for adults experiencing distress or crisis, including those at heightened risk of suicide. People engaged with the service will have access to short to medium term targeted care and support, psychoeducation, and support to access other relevant services.

Service delivery will reflect principals of Trauma Informed Care and Recovery Oriented practices and be guided by an extensive co-design processes.

Darwin Head to Health will adhere to the principles of the Gayaa Dhuwi (Proud Spirit) Declaration and will work with our partners, the Larrakia Nation in the development and delivery of services to ensure culturally safe services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

About the role:

  • Work within the multidisciplinary team to deliver a range of services to adults experiencing emotional distress, crises, mental ill health and/or addiction, and to their families, support people and carers
  • You will have the ability to be with people when they are distressed, the ability to listen compassionately and to support people to identify and act upon solutions that may improve their wellbeing
  • Full Time/Part Time, Maximum Term contract until 30 June 2023
  • 7 day a week shift work including morning, evening and weekend shifts
  • Located at the Head to Health Centre in Darwin, Northern Territory
  • Indigenous workers and workers with a lived experience of recovery and mental health challenges are encouraged to apply.

    Mandatory Requirements:

  • Criminal record check required before commencement of employment
  • Valid Northern Territory Driver’s licence
