Child & Adolescent Board Certified Psychiatrist- Full Time

Position Details:

Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry
Full Time position with benefits and paid time off
Primary assignment is with children/adolescents Psychiatric Residential Treatment Programs (PRTF)
Location of position:on-site face to face on the Brandywine campus located in Glenmoore, PA.

Everyday as a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist you will:

Evaluates, diagnose and treat mental, emotional and behavioral disorders for children/adolescents within PRTF.
Determines appropriate course of treatment
Creates treatment plans
Prescribes medication as needed/necessary
Completes electronic medical records

*Diagnoses may include: suicidal gestures and attempts, cutting and self-injurious behaviors, depression, aggression, psychosis, autism spectrum disorders, and/or drug and alcohol issues.

Devereux Pennsylvania Children’s Services (DPACS) center serves children, adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral, emotional and psychiatric challenges and disorders. Located in West Chester, Glenmoore, and Malvern Pennsylvania, services provided include psychiatric residential treatment (PRTF), residential treatment (RTF), acute inpatient psychiatric hospital (AIP), assessment services, community-based mental health services, community-based employment training and social skills training, and approved private school educational services to male and female children and adolescents (6-21 years of age) with diagnoses of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, concomitant psychiatric and behavioral challenges often associated with experiencing some level of trauma in their lives. A primary focus throughout the program is the philosophy of Program-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PW-PBIS), a program-wide system of care that promotes and rewards positive behaviors, and prevents negative behaviors, to create safe, supportive living environments. Each year, more than 1,000 children and adolescents receive specialized care, in the environment best suited to the unique challenges they face, all with the goal of providing each child with the academic, social, emotional and life skills needed to flourish in their home community

Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate’s understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children

EDUCATION: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist with current license. Must have child psychiatry training if treating population 16 years and younger. Completion of an approved psychiatric residency program is required. Duty to immediately notify Executive Director or Human Resources in the event license, privileges or mandated certification is suspended or revoked.

EXPERIENCE: Completion of an approved psychiatric residency program is required. Psychiatrist working with child and/or adolescent clients must demonstrate relevant treatment competency through clinical experience, continuing education units and referral letters to support these specific skills. Strong organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and adjust to a flexible work schedule including nights and weekends. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient computer skills and mastery of Microsoft Office applications. Valid driver’s license must be maintained in state of residence.
