The ‘Working with Wisdom’ (WwW) mentoring and coaching model will take advantage of the knowledge and skills that experienced nurses and midwives developed during their career. The model enables senior nurses and midwives to support, mentor and educate the incoming generation of graduates, allowing the accumulated knowledge and skills of the experienced nurse/midwife to be transferred to the early career nurses and midwives.
As the Clinical Nurse/Midwife Facilitator – Working with Wisdom (WwW) you will provide nursing “at elbow” point of care support to nursing/midwifery students, new staff and staff with less experience, with face to face, on ground and/or virtual support, including development of an agreed plan for communication and supervision to promote reflective practice and problem solving, and evidence based capability development through experiential learning. You will accept accountability for their own practice standards, activities delegated to others and the guidance and development of less experienced staff.
The RN/M2C role continues to be predominantly clinical in nature; however, employees are assigned appropriate portfolios including precepting, mentoring and coaching nursing/midwifery students, new staff and staff with less experience. The allocation of portfolio responsibilities should be negotiated with each employee and be consistent with the career development plan for the employee as determined by their performance review/development plan.
Please note that this vacancy is a regional position with some shift work and travel required.
To be eligible to apply you must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience. Experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses, and less experienced registered nurses essential.
